Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

  • Armaghan-e-Sarhad (ارمغانِ سرحد) welcomes original research articles that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Urdu research, language, literature, and related disciplines. Authors are requested to carefully follow the guidelines below when preparing and submitting manuscripts.

    Manuscript Submission Requirements

    • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished work and should not be under consideration by any other journal.
    • All submissions must be prepared according to recognized academic writing standards.
    • Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, originality, grammar, spelling, references, and overall quality of their manuscripts.
    • Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s submission requirements may be returned to authors before peer review.
    • All authors must provide their complete names, affiliations, institutional addresses, email addresses, and ORCID IDs (if available).
    • The corresponding author must be clearly identified and will be responsible for communication throughout the review and publication process.
    • Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and confirm compliance with ethical research standards.

    Manuscript Length and Formatting

    • The manuscript should normally not exceed 20 pages unless otherwise approved by the editorial board.
    • Manuscripts should follow the APA referencing style (7th edition).
    • The manuscript should be prepared using:
      • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point size
      • Line spacing: Double spacing throughout the manuscript
      • Margins: 1 inch on all sides
      • Text alignment: Left aligned
      • Page numbers: Included on all pages
    • Tables, figures, charts, and illustrations must be properly numbered, titled, and placed appropriately within the manuscript.

    Abstract and Keywords

    Each manuscript must include:

    • A clear and informative abstract of 200–250 words.
    • 3–5 keywords that represent the main concepts of the research.

    Manuscript Structure

    Research articles should generally include the following sections:

    • Title Page
    • Abstract
    • Keywords
    • Introduction
    • Literature Review
    • Research Methodology
    • Results and Discussion
    • Conclusion
    • Acknowledgements (if applicable)
    • References

    Authors may modify the structure according to the nature of their research with approval from the editorial team.

    References and Citations

    • All sources cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list.
    • References must follow APA 7th edition style.
    • Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all citations and references.
    • Only references cited within the manuscript should be included in the reference list.

    Tables, Figures, and Supplementary Materials

    • Tables and figures should enhance the clarity of research findings.
    • All tables, figures, and illustrations must be properly labelled and cited in the text.
    • Authors should provide high-quality images, charts, and graphical materials suitable for publication.
    • Supplementary materials may be submitted when necessary to support research transparency.

    Originality, Plagiarism, and Ethical Requirements

    • Submitted manuscripts must represent original research.
    • Duplicate submission, plagiarism, data fabrication, and unethical research practices are strictly prohibited.
    • Authors must comply with the journal’s Publication Ethics and Malpractice Policy.
    • Manuscripts may be checked using plagiarism detection software.

    Peer Review Process

    • All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess relevance, quality, and compliance with journal requirements.
    • Suitable manuscripts are sent for double-blind peer review by independent experts in the relevant field.
    • Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on originality, methodology, significance, clarity, and academic contribution.
    • Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts according to reviewer comments.
    • The final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection rests with the editorial board.

    Author Responsibilities

    Authors confirm that:

    • The submitted work is not published elsewhere and is not under review by another journal.
    • All contributors who meet authorship criteria are properly acknowledged.
    • Necessary permissions are obtained for copyrighted material.
    • Any funding sources and research support are disclosed.
