Zeno by Waheed Ahmad represents an important contribution to modern Urdu Literature through its philosophical depth and psychological insight. The novel explores the complexities of human existence, inner conflict, and the search for meaning in contemporary life. Its title symbolically recalls Zeno of Citium, suggesting a connection with philosophical questions of time, movement, and reality. The narrative focuses on the mental and emotional struggles of individuals living in an increasingly fragmented social environment, where relationships fail to provide spiritual fulfillment. The author presents modern urban life as a space marked by alienation, uncertainty, and intellectual restlessness. Stylistically, the novel combines simple language with symbolic expression, while its non-linear treatment of time deepens the psychological experience of the characters. Overall, the novel strengthens the tradition of intellectual and reflective fiction in Urdu narrative prose.
