Abstract

The dynamics of a language evolve in direct correlation with the changes in society, and this is particularly evident in the case of Urdu, which is one of the richest languages in terms of its proverbs and everyday expressions. This paper explores the profound impact of societal transformations, including urbanization, technological advancements, and shifts in social norms, on the traditional proverbs and colloquial expressions in the Urdu language. By examining the historical context and usage of these expressions, this study identifies how they reflect the values, aspirations, and struggles of the society they originate from. Additionally, this research delves into how contemporary issues, such as globalization and modern education, have led to the adaptation and transformation of these linguistic constructs. The study is based on both qualitative and quantitative data, incorporating interviews with Urdu speakers from various regions of Pakistan, as well as analysis of literary texts and media representations of the language.
